Biatob is a new site to embed betting odds into one’s writing. Kalshi, a CFTC-regulated prediction market, launches in the US Malta in trouble over betting and gambling fraud.
Thanks for the mention, Nuno. It's a pity that legitimate betting sites are so often smeared as dens of underworld/money laundering concerns. I'd bet that actually, on-line money laundering, tax evasion fraud, and addiction problems all are much less prevalent online than at brick and mortar bookies/casinos. But this part of the internet is unfortunately suspect and not very palatable to the powers-that-be, and never will be. That in turn has much to do with the scalability of on-line casinos, which in turn does cause a massive loss of market share for the regulated state lotteries like Lotto in Germany. And those do pay millions in taxes in Germany, not Malta.
Hi Nuno! My name is Tarek, one of the founders at Kalshi. Really appreciate the mention here. I would love to chat about prediction markets and get your feedback on the platform if you have some time. What's the best way to contact you?
But also, I just appreciate Kalshi from afar because you have been able to build a decent amount of volume on questions which seem fairly informative (as opposed to e.g., sports). But sadly I can't trade there, as I'm not an American.

Hi Tarek, cheers. I think you also sent an email to the forecasting newsletter, I'll answer through that in the next few days.

Sounds good, thanks!
